Two Pansies was a co-exhibition by artists Autumn Star and Shay Donovan. This collaborative project brought together sculpture, painting and video installation to create an immersive environment shaped by ecofeminist values and the transformative potential of play with interior spaces that hold memory and transformation. The gallery becomes an expanded organism that is inhabited, breathing, and blooming. With humour and tenderness, we sculpt and paint a visual world where whimsy becomes a method of evolving a practice rooted in care and curiosity. We aim to create a sensory-rich environment that invites viewers to experience the subversive potential of multispecies kinship.
In a debut frolic into video work, Autumn Star and I hand crafted costumes to bring a nebula of characters to life. Revolving around the Pansies love of story sharing, the character vignettes lean into humour, queerness, and the absurd.
